holiday

Well, we took a lovely holiday in Scotland during July. It was partly influenced by [livejournal.com profile] techiebabe's post about her Scottish holiday, especially the Cruachan power station and Falkirk Wheel visits. I don't need to do a full LJ post about it, because the photos are well annotated. Photos.

I haven't looked through all of your pictures yet, but it's especially neat to see the steam train trip ones.. I've stayed in or around Malaig/Arisaig for four or five summers, and never been on it. (A handful of this year's pics are on flickr, though I've probably posted the link before.)

It was very nice of the driver to let me onto the footplate. We love steam trains, and I'd say it was worth a trip. When I holidayed in Arisaig during my undergrad degree, we saw the train from Glenfinnan and that was good too.

Anyway, you can tell we have a thing about shots of trains, with so many from that day alone. [livejournal.com profile] hsenag is trying to get better at curvy train photos. He accidentally got this self-reflecty one (http://urchin.earth.li/photopub/display?photo=/users/ganesh/banana/2884&thumb=640x640) on a low res camera (Dart Valley, Devon, by the way) and another with a watery reflection, and has been trying to get similar ones ever since.

I like the "alternative coastal route" in your set.
